Paraphrasing

When writing research papers, students often rely more on quotes than their own ideas and interpretations. Although it is necessary to include valid sources, direct quotes should not make up the vast majority of a paper, but rather a mere 10% or so (Lester). Lester also suggests that students refrain from copying too many direct quotes when taking notes on their sources.
